Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: Internationally

Three international organizations or communities of practice that appealed to I and why you chose them

  • Save the Children is an international organization. The global organization serves as a voice for children within 120 countries. Save the Children work towards focusing on the wellbeing of the lives of young children (Save the Children, 2019). This year I was able to raise money for the organization through the “Red Nose” movement that supports children living in poverty. I truly love everything about the organization and, I can not wait to start contributing more to help young children who are need.
  •    International Step by Step Association has resourceful elements for various areas but, the one I am more interested in is the Early Childhood Workforce Initiative. Their goals are to help policymakers develop services worldwide that improves the quality and support of improving the professionalism within education (International Step by Step Association, n.d.).
  • United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) develops educational tools that help people live as citizen free from hate and intolerance. The foundation is currently working across 9 Mediterranean countries. UNESCO is a foundation that is new to me. I really admired their vison because it supports freedom by promoting equality for all cultures (UNESCO, 2011).

  1. Kiara,
Thank you for sharing three organizations that I am not familiar with. It is great to learn not only with someone but through them as well. I have always seen the 'red nose' campaigns each year but never fully understand what it supported. With my awareness now, I will me more likely to participate and also encourage others to do so as well. Often, the focus on poverty is for adults and not the whole family so for this organization to being for the focus of specifically children in poverty it will allow others to learn how large this issue truly is.
The employment opportunity through Save the Children seems to be quite inspiring. While n the United States, young or school age children do not work but it is quite typical in other nations so having an advocate for those children will provide better outcomes for them.
Thank you again for sharing these international organizations.
    Sarah Kasco
